While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has undoubtedly become a pop culture staple, this isn’t the comic book company’s first attempt at bringing their characters to the big screen. Among their earlier investments in the film business, one such ensemble of superheroes that have become fan favorites today would be the X-Men.

The X-Men series follows a group of heroes, one of whom is Jean Grey, who is notably portrayed in the films by Famke Janssen. Janssen began her professional career as a model around 1984 before making her way to the acting scene. She began with minor parts and guest appearances before landing her first film role in 1992’s Fathers & Sons. Since then, she has appeared in films such as Taken, GoldenEye, The Blacklist, and Hemlock Grove, in addition to the X-Men franchise. She will also appear in a live-action adaptation of the anime series Saint Seiya.
