Sarah Silverman got her start on Saturday Night Live. Her stand-up humor and modest appearances in films like There’s Something About Mary and Rent helped her achieve a prominent degree. But it wasn’t until she received her show, The Sarah Silverman Program, that she became a household figure. The comedian has continued to act and write comedy in the years afterward.

Silverman and Michael Sheen have been dating for a few years, but marriage is not in the cards for them. She’s delaying her wedding plans for the time being. She spoke out in favor of marriage equality, stating that she wouldn’t go down the aisle until marriage was legal for everybody. Silverman went on to say that she doesn’t want the government to get involved in her relationship, and marriage to her is like eating meat when she’s a vegetarian.
